Customizing the Profile Avatar
In this second tutorial we will be going over the second method for customizing your profile avatar. This method requires you to either have your own image on your computer, or if you know the web address of an image on the web, you can use the images web address to link to it as your avatar. This method is identical to method one up to the point where we get to your profile editing page. Since we already went over those steps in method one, we will skip those in this tutorial. If you need a refresher you can go back to the thread for method one. Alright, let's go!
Method Two: Uploading and Linking to Your Own Custom Image
Step 1: Initiating the Upload Process
To start, you should be on your profile editing page, and if you remember, that is the page with the avatar tab. Once you are on that tab, we are going to work with the third field this time. By this point I'm going to assume that you have chosen an image to use. If you don't have an image selected yet, go ahead and choose one before we finish this step. Once you have selected your image, click on the link at the bottom of the field that says 'upload/link' (see Figure 2.1)
Figure 2.1
Step 2: Choosing Which Image Option to Use
As I mentioned earlier on, this method has two options for providing an image. As you can see on the pop-up window, you will either upload an image from your computer, or you can link to an image on another web site. First, let's assume you have downloaded an image to your computer. Go ahead and click the Select Image button (see Figure 2.2)
Figure 2.2
Step 3: Uploading Your Image
You should now have your file selection window displayed. Navigate to the image file on your computer, select it, and then click on the Open button to begin your upload to the forum (see Figure 2.3)
Figure 2.3
Step 4: The Upload
There is nothing you need to do in this step except wait for the upload to complete. Once the upload is done, the upload window will close on it's own and you can move on to the final step (see Figure 2.4)
Figure 2.4
Step 5: Confirming and Saving Your Image
Once the upload window closes, you should be back to the avatar tab on the profile editing page. As we did in the first method, you will need to confirm that the correct image is being displayed in the first field. Next you will look at the second field. This time you want to make sure that the radio button for the selection that says 'Use only the Uploaded/Linked' is selected. If it is not already selected, go ahead and select it now by clicking in the circle. And finally, click on the Save Avatar Changes button (see Figure 2.5)

Step 2 Option 2: Linking an Image
And that's all there is to it when uploading your image from your computer. Now, we've been talking about a second option back in step two. For option two, instead of using an image from your computer, you will provide a URL address for an image that is hosted somewhere on another web site. To do this you will need to pick an image somewhere on the web and then you can right-click on the image and select Copy Link. You have just copied the URL address of the image to your computer's clipboard. Now, going back to step two, you will click in the text field at the bottom of the window and paste (CTRL+V or right-click and select paste) your URL address into the field. Then click on the Link Image button and complete step five and you will be done.
