Customizing the Profile Avatar
For those who do not know, an avatar is a graphic representation of your virtual self. Typically people like to choose avatars that best represent their personalities and their interests. This tutorial will show you how to navigate the three methods for assigning a custom avatar to your profile that will display in both the main profile and the mini-profile which is displayed next to each of your posts across the forum boards.
Before we get started, let's go over the basics of the avatar image itself. The recommended size for the avatar image is 150px by 150px, but you can use images smaller than the recommended size if you wish. Animated images must not be bigger than 150px by 150px. The maximum file size for the image is 1MB and the following file formats are supported: .gif .jpg .jpeg .png
It goes without saying that all images must not violate the terms and beliefs of Berean Study Group Forum's rules or the rules and agreement of Proboards. Okay, let's get started...
Method 1: Choosing the default Forum Avatars
Step 1: Editing the Main Profile
Under the My Account tab in the navigation bar, click on the My Profile button from the dropdown menu (see Figure 1.1)
Figure 1.1
Step 2: Editing the Main Profile
Once the main profile page is loaded, click on the Edit Profile button which is located in the upper right corner of the window (see Figure 1.2)
Figure 1.2
Step 3: The Forum Avatar Library
When the next page loads you will see a number of tabs at the top of the window. By default it should be on the Avatar tab, but if not, just click on the Avatar tab. When you are done choosing your avatar it would be a good idea to come back to this main profile edit page and browse the rest of the tabs to see what else you can do. There are a good number of elements that can be customized on your profile.
Alright, now let's look at the avatar editing page. There are four separate fields here. The first field displays the currently assigned avatar for your profile. The second window allows you to select which of the different avatar choices you want displayed on your profile. The third and fourth fields are used to edit custom images, which will be covered later in the last two methods of this multi-part tutorial.
For now, let's focus on the second field. We are going to choose one of the handful of Forum Avatars available from our website, so if we look down the list of radio buttons we want the one that says 'Use a Forum Avatar'. Click on the Pick One link (see Figure 1.3)
Figure 1.3
Step 4: Choosing Your Forum Avatar
After you've clicked the link a pop-up window will display all the Forum Avatars available to choose from. Go through the list and decide which avatar you would like to use for your profile. Once you've chosen your avatar go ahead and click once on the image you have chosen and the window will close (see Figure 1.4)

Step 5: Assigning your Forum Avatar Display Option
You should now be back on the Avatar editing tab. We just need to confirm a few things and then we will be ready to save your choice to your profile. First, take a look in the first field to confirm the avatar you chose in the last step is being displayed. If the image is not correct go back and repeat steps 3 and 4. Once the correct image is being displayed we will move on to the second field. Okay, so your Forum Avatar is being displayed in the first field, now we need to make sure we have it set to be displayed in your profile. The radio button in front of 'Use a Forum Avatar' should be selected. If not, go ahead and click on the circle to enable that option. And that's it, click on the Save Avatar Changes button and you're done! (see Figure 1.5)
