Good morning brethren. I trust your day has been blessed thus far. I have a great announcement to make today regarding a new feature that is going to save a lot of time when posting to the Bible study threads each week. The new feature is called a bible reftagger. Basically what it does is allows us to post just the verse reference instead of having to type out the whole quoted verse. The reftagger then will automatically convert the text of your verse reference into a hover link. When members hover over the verse reference it will pop up a small window that displays the text of the verse in the KJV version. Let's take a look... you can see in the image below that the verses are now links (circled in yellow) and the verse that the cursor is over is displaying the text from the KJV Bible. How cool is that??!!
Now let's take a look at how much time this will save. My current method for quoting verses has been to add the verse into a quote box. As you can see below, it looks nice, but it requires five steps every time I add a verse. That's a lot of time spent, especially if you quote a lot of verses in one post as I tend to do.
I'm very excited about this new feature. So far I've only found one drawback to the reftagger and that is that is seems to have a static window size and font size, which means it will only display a certain amount of text for each link. So if you have to quote a long passage you might still be better off with the old copy and past method as the entire section of verse will not be displayed automatically, though the pop up box does have a "more" link that will take members to an offsite page to display the entire text at their own site.
So that's it. The feature is already active so there's nothing you need to do, just type out your post and when you add the verse references anywhere on the post the reftagger will do the rest once you create the post, and as a plus it works forum wide, including favorite verses in profiles and signatures! Happy posting!!!
