Our Statement of Faith
There is only one God and He reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Holy Bible, the 66 books of the Old and New Testament, was written by holy men as they were inspired and directed by the Holy Spirit. Thus, all scripture is the verbally inspired Word of God, authoritative and free from error in the original manuscripts.
The Word of God is not subject to the interpretation of man, but rather scripture interprets scripture and should be kept in context with consideration to historical setting, grammatical structure and the author's intent.
Due to the inheritance of sin through Adam (the first man), all mankind is born in sin.
Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God. He is fully man and fully God, was born of the virgin Mary conceived from the Holy Spirit, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of the world, was resurrected on the third day, and ascended to heaven to sit down at the right hand of the Father, making intersession for all who believe on Him by faith.
Salvation is granted only when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour by faith.
Salvation is provided by the grace of God. We cannot be saved through our own efforts, our works or by the intervention of man on our behalf (see Ephesians 2:8-9).
Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven (see John 3:3). When we believe on Him by faith, His blood, shed on the cross, cleanses us of all our sins and our sins are remembered no more. Anyone who denies that Jesus is the Christ is an antichrist (see 1 John 2:22) and remains in his sins.
We are separated from God by our sins. Anyone remaining in their sins at death cannot inherit eternal life and will be cast into the lake of fire when they stand before God during the Great White Throne judgment to give an account of their life. In the lake of fire, non-believers will endure eternal torment.
Good people can, and many will, go to hell. If one has never accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour, letting His blood at the cross redeem them from their sins, it will not matter how good a life they have lived. Even the morally exceptional individual will go to hell without the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ.
Though we are all born as sinners, we believe that children are covered under what’s referred to as the age of accountability, which most believe to be around the age of thirteen. What this means is that someone under the age of thirteen is not capable of understanding the concept of eternal damnation or the saving grace of God through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. In some circles it is also thought that those with mental illness and other diseases that would prevent them from reasoning will not be held accountable for their sins. It should, however, be noted that the Bible does not directly address these issues so this is really more of an extrapolated popular belief based on the fact that God is just and fair, and so we believe that God would not make such individuals accountable for their sins if they cannot mentally understand the choice they are making. Only God knows the truth and we have to accept that this is one of those subjects of which He has chosen not to provide us with further enlightenment.
While grace provides us freedom from sins, it is not a license to sin. When we are born again through our faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit indwells us as believers. If we make a mistake and commit sin, a true believer will be convicted by the Holy Spirit. Continually living in the same sin daily without conviction is evidence that one is not truly saved (see Hebrews 10:26, 1 John 3:9, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 6:1-2, 1 John 5:18, 1 John 3:6, Luke 6:46).
Born again believers in Jesus Christ are to separate ourselves from the world (see James 4:4, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 1 Corinthians 5:11).
